OpenAI opens ChatGPT Space to Enterprise but keeps Dots off by default

OpenAI’s own DevDay 2026 recap puts ChatGPT Space on every Pro, Business and Enterprise plan, then puts the agent it demoed inside that space on a shorter list. Dots, the always-on agents launched the same day, reach Pro and Business Premium users in eligible markets. For Enterprise, Edu and Healthcare, the recap says a dot is a beta a workspace admin has to switch on, and that “it is off by default”. No single plan gets the whole collaboration demo on day one.

Space itself is “a new home for your team to collaborate with AI to get work done”, in the recap’s words, and it’s live on the ChatGPT desktop app and the web. Finding, reading and sharing pages also works on mobile, with mobile creation and editing listed as coming soon. Engadget described Space as landing on desktop and web “before arriving on mobile”, which is slightly flatter than what OpenAI published.

That matters because the gap sits in the plan grid, where the pieces of the demo ship on four different lists. We read the availability line under each item in the recap and lined them up.

Read down that second column and the demo splits apart. A Pro subscriber gets Space, Pages and a dot, but teams and shared tasks are Business and Enterprise only. A Business customer gets the teams feature, and the recap limits dots to Business Premium. On Enterprise, an admin has to enable the beta before anyone there sees a dot at all.

Create a dedicated space where teammates, ChatGPT, and your dot can build on shared knowledge.

That sentence is the pitch, and for most of the plans it describes a space with two of the three participants in it. Coverage on the day largely carried the pitch without the split. CNBC’s live blog reported that Space “will allow teammates and OpenAI’s dots agents to work together”, and ZDNet was told by an OpenAI representative that “Space is built for people and AI to work on the same content together”.

Even so, the outlets disagree among themselves on who gets a dot first. Business Insider wrote that Dots “will roll out first only to Enterprise and Business Premium users and to ChatGPT Pro subscribers”, which reads Enterprise into the opening wave. TechCrunch had it as Pro and Business Premium, matching the Dots announcement, which says Enterprise users “can try the beta when their workspace admin enables it”.

OpenAI’s two pages aren’t identical either. The Dots post says dots are rolling out “across Pro, Business Premium, and Enterprise plans”, and narrows that to a beta further down the same page.

On cost, the Dots post says your first dot is included in your Pro or Business Premium plan at no extra cost, with an allowance for deeper work and extended limits for the first month after launch. The privacy answer OpenAI pointed at is Private Intelligence, which it says “helps businesses use frontier AI with greater confidence that their data is protected”. That bundles Zero Data Retention with Private Safety Processing alongside a preview of Private Inference the recap dates to this autumn.

What’s worth watching is whether the plan lists converge. Collaborative slides were listed as weeks away, the Meetings plugin is macOS-only and in beta, and Enterprise remains the tier where the headline feature sits behind an admin toggle. Until that changes, the shared-workspace story OpenAI told on stage is one most of its paying customers can only partly assemble.
